TheWest reports that the Kaufland market in Ruhr Park will close on August 17, 2024 - even earlier than originally planned. The reason for this step is a negative business development that has been observed over the years. In recent years, customers' shopping behavior has changed, which led to this decision. A total of 80 employees will be affected by the closure, which represents a major challenge for those affected.

Although the Kaufland store has played an important role in Ruhr Park since it opened in October 2004, the operators of the shopping center are already in talks with various parties in order to rent out the 5,000 square meter area attractively again soon. The center manager is confident that the area offers a lot of potential for the further development of the Ruhr Park.
