VfL Bochum at the training camp in Tyrol: All highlights and activities!

VfL Bochum has decided on a training camp in Scheffau, Austria, before the start of the 2025/26 season. From July 12th to 20th, 2025, the kickers will train in the picturesque Tyrolean Alps. This marks a change of location after the club had been a guest in Gais for years. The decision in favor of Scheffau is intended to give the players new impetus and inspire preparations for the coming season. WAZ reports that trainer Dieter Hecking scheduled two training sessions on Monday - one at 10:30 a.m. and the other at 4:00 p.m.

So far, 30 team members have gathered in the training camp, including assistant coach Anthony Losilla and the new players Jeremias Heufken, a goalkeeper, and central defender Daniel Hülsenbusch, who moved up from the U21. Unfortunately, Erhan Masovic will not be able to take part due to injury and Ibrahima Sissoko will be temporarily rested after suffering a blow to his calf.

Test match series and fan events

There are several test games on the program in Scheffau. A first meeting against Viktoria Plzen ended in a 1-1 draw, with Moritz Broschinski scoring the equalizer. On July 13th, the Bochum team will face Waldhof Mannheim, followed by an encounter with Young Boys Bern on July 16th. Particularly pleasing for the fans: In Scheffau there is a special fan area where snacks and drinks are provided. Around 200 to 250 supporters have the opportunity to support their team and are cordially invited to joint activities, such as a hike or a fan evening.

Outlook for the season

VfL Bochum will officially start its season preparations on June 25, 2025. From then on the test games will also be in the foreground. As already mentioned, the test match series begins with the duel against TuS Harpen on July 2nd, and the second tough test will take place on July 6th against Wuppertaler SV. These games will be of great importance with regard to the start of the season in the 2nd Bundesliga (from August 1st to 3rd).
