Major security operation in Bottrop: Drug trafficking stopped at the central bus station!
Safety is very important in the city of Bottrop. On Friday, October 24, 2025, an important operation by the Recklinghausen police and the municipal public order service (KOD) took place at the central bus station (ZOB) and in the Ehrenpark. Since 2019, law enforcement officers have been carrying out regular checks in these particularly frequented areas, which are repeatedly noticeable due to higher crime rates, especially brutality crimes. The operation, which was personally accompanied by Police Chief Friederike Zurhausen, lasted from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. and represented a comprehensive security mechanism. In addition to security and rotation services, the criminal police, prevention experts, the traffic directorate and a service dog handler with his dog were also deployed. The aim was to protect citizens from crime and improve their quality of life.
Results of the focus operation
The results of this large-scale operation are impressive. A man has been temporarily arrested on suspicion of dealing in narcotics. A subsequent search of his apartment uncovered more drugs. As a result of these measures, three criminal cases were initiated against the detainee.
In total, the police conducted 49 interviews with citizens, 18 people were checked and three people had to be sent off. During traffic measures, the police identified a total of eleven administrative offenses, including seven speeding violations. The municipal public order service also had its hands full: among other things, violations by cyclists and dog ownership as well as five traffic obstructions were punished. A total of 23 citizen discussions were held. Express.de emphasizes that the operation was extremely successful from the citizens' perspective.
