Sale on Ostenhellweg: Project 11” closes, bargains await!
A lot is happening in retail in Dortmund. On the popular Ostenhellweg, the fashion store “Project 11” will be closing its doors and is currently offering a sale that offers numerous bargain hunters exciting opportunities. Directly opposite the former C&A branch, at the intersection of Kleppingstrasse and Ostenhellweg, the store has hung a large sign saying “Sale”. The shelves are being cleared and a seller said that a successor for the property has already been determined, but details are still unclear, reports Ruhr24.
When you look at “Project 11” it quickly becomes clear that the prices are currently extremely attractive. Many items, including scarves, hats, jackets and trousers, are often available for around ten euros or even less. These offers primarily appeal to Christmas market visitors who want to secure a good deal.
More retail closures
But the closure of “Project 11” is not the only change that is taking place on Ostenhellweg. C&A will also close its traditional branch, with the last day of opening in spring 2025. The main reason for this decision is changing customer needs and the difficult market environment, which is putting local retailers under pressure t online.
The city of Dortmund has already approved a building application for a comprehensive renovation of the new location in the former Mayersche bookstore on Westenhellweg. Citizens and residents are concerned about the closure of the popular department store, which has been a magnet for passers-by for years.
A wave of closures
It's not just the two businesses mentioned that are on the brink of extinction. The “Comma” branch on Westenhellweg will also be closed and will run until February 8, 2025. The clearance sale taking place there is loud The West Discounts of up to 40 percent on remaining items. Mannequins have already been stripped, a clear sign of impending closure. In addition, the “Uni-Polster” store has also announced a closure, which is also due to a city ordinance.
The closures and clearance sales show the challenges of stationary retail in Dortmund, which are exacerbated by the ever-growing competition from online retail and uncertain economic conditions. The fear of further closures and a decline in the attractiveness of the city center remains noticeable.
