Mulled wine price remains stable: Dortmund's Christmas market starts soon!

In less than a month, the Dortmund Christmas market will open its doors on November 20, 2025 and will captivate visitors with culinary delights and a festive atmosphere. The anticipation is great, because a special highlight here will definitely be the much sought-after mulled wine.

Compared to last year, the cup of mulled wine is offered again this year for 3.50 euros - unchanged! Organizer Patrick Arens explained that despite intensive discussions with stand operators, no price increase was decided. For many, this is good news, after all there was already an increase of 50 cents in 2023. Dortmund remains one of the cheaper addresses for mulled wine lovers in Germany, as mulled wine here only costs 3.50 euros, while in cities like Cologne or Berlin prices can rise to up to 5 euros.

The collector's cup and culinary diversity

The annual cup with a changing design is particularly in demand, which not only promises a drink in the cold season, but has also become a collector's item. Every year the cup is presented with a new motif, and Christmas market visitors eagerly collect the different designs for their shelves at home.

But the Dortmund Christmas market has much more to offer than “just” mulled wine. Over 250 stands await guests with handcrafted art, delicate culinary specialties and great gift ideas. A highlight will be the lighting of the large tree on Hansaplatz on November 24th, which will certainly attract numerous guests again.

In other cities such as Bremen, mulled wine cups are also collector's items. There are cups there that can be returned with a deposit of four euros; One euro is used as a donation for the mobile family aid “Bremer Engel”. The cups bear the lettering “Bremer Christmas Market” and are decorated with various motifs. Sabine Robrahn, who designs the cups, has ordered large quantities to ensure there are enough cups available for the season. In Bremen, mulled wine prices rose by 50 cents to an average of four euros, which shows that the overall trend is towards higher prices. Nevertheless, the festivity of the Christmas markets remains intact and visitors seem willing to pay for the atmosphere.
