German ice hockey women win spectacularly in the penalty thriller against France!

The Germany Cup got off to a promising start for the German ice hockey women! With an exciting 3-2 win against France on November 5, 2025 in Landshut, they put themselves in a good starting position. The match was not for the faint of heart and ultimately ended in a penalty shootout, in which Laura Kluge scored the decisive goal and made the audience cheer.

Emily Nix scored the first goal of the game in the 20th minute. However, the German players' joy did not last long: France equalized in the second half with goals from Emma Nonnenmacher in the 43rd minute and Clara Rozier in the 48th minute. But Laura Kluge showed strong nerves in the final phase. With her equalizer in the 59th minute, she forced extra time before holding her nerve in the penalty shootout and putting the Germans on the road to victory. Around 1,500 spectators created a great atmosphere in the hall and loudly supported the team.

A promising start

If you look at the composition of the team, it is clear that the DEB women are represented at the Olympic Games for the first time since 2014 after a long absence. Next year they will play against Sweden in Milan and it will be interesting to see how the players continue to develop. In total, 17 of the 23 nominated players were in the squad who had already played at the World Cup, which indicates strong team chemistry.

In the next game, the German women will face Slovakia on Friday at 7:00 p.m., who also won their first game against Hungary 3-2. Another exciting opponent, because after a successful start, the German women naturally want to win this match too. The final group game against the Hungarians follows on Saturday.

The men's tournament is also coming up

At the same time, the German men are also starting in the Germany Cup. They face Latvia on Thursday at 7:45 p.m. and here too, important places for the Milan Olympics are at stake. The excitement in the German ice hockey scene couldn't be greater, because both the men and women have big goals in mind.

With a positive start to the tournament, expectations are high. Fans and players are wondering whether the German team can maintain this form. Ice hockey fever has gripped Cologne and the entire nation. It remains exciting!
