Elon Musk attacks: America Party should bring back freedom!

The political landscape of the USA is upside down! On July 5, 2025, billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk announced the formation of his own political party, which he called the America Party. The announcement was made on his platform X and has already caused quite a stir. Musk emphasizes that the main goal of his new party is to “give back freedom” to US citizens. In clear terms, he criticized what he saw as rampant waste and bribery, which could push the country to the brink of bankruptcy. This announcement marks another climax in the feud between Musk and former President Donald Trump, who himself recently signed controversial tax and spending management legislation.

While the political waves are heating up, it should not be forgotten that Musk has already supported Trump's election campaign with over 250 million dollars. Nevertheless, the relationship between the two has now changed significantly. Musk, who was previously a close confidant of Trump and attended many White House events, fired back at his former mentor on social media. He even claimed that Trump would have lost the election without his support. It remains unclear what role Musk wants to take on in his new party in the future. While he has his roots in South Africa and is therefore not eligible for the presidency, his estimated fortune of around $360 billion could certainly have an influence on the election.

The motivation behind the America Party

Musk sees the need for a new political force because he believes that the existing political landscape in the US does not represent the interests of a large part of the population. In a survey Musk launched on X on Independence Day, around 65.4% of nearly 1.25 million participants expressed interest in forming the America Party. This shows how much an alternative to the existing parties is needed. As a Gallup poll from 2024 shows, 43% of Americans identify as independent, while only 28% are Republican and just as many are Democratic.

As far as the structure and program of the new party is concerned, Musk has so far kept a low profile. In his statements, however, he emphasizes that today's system is more like a one-party system and has nothing to do with a genuine democratic approach. Historically, it has always been a challenge for third parties in the US to assert themselves against the big incumbents. Prominent examples such as Ross Perot and Jill Stein show that even a large number of votes among the population does not automatically lead to electoral success.

How the America Party will develop remains to be seen. As we all know, the political games in the United States are not only exciting, but also unpredictable. Will voters actually choose a new direction or will everything stay the same? Further developments and details can certainly be expected.
