Attention hikers and cyclists: The Urftseeweg between Amselbachtal and Halftenbachtal will be closed on October 8th and 9th, 2025. The reason for this measure is necessary securing work on the rocks that must be carried out in this area. The affected section extends between the Amselbachtal and Halftenbachtal. There is still something positive to report: The sections between Gemünd and Amselbachtal as well as the area between the Urft dam and the “Wilder Kermeter” stop remain unaffected by the closures. This means walkers and cyclists can continue to use these routes, but should be prepared to take detours to get to their destinations.
Beautiful hiking trails around the Urfttalsperre
To make the most of a trip to the Urfttalsperre, interested hikers can choose from a variety of alternatives. A popular starting point for hikes is the descent to the road near the torchbearer. From there you go to the sports facilities and further down into the Urfttal. Here you can choose the Urftseerandweg, which runs for about an hour along the picturesque meander of the dam. This route offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area, including Lake Obersee and the majestic Vogelsang.
For the more adventurous, there is also the option of hiking over the Urftseemauer and following the Eifelsteig.
