Claas invests 50 million euros: Bad Saulgau becomes a logistics hotspot!
Bad Saulgau, a town in picturesque Baden-Württemberg, took a significant step into the future on Monday. The Claas company, known for its innovative strength in the field of agricultural technology, is investing more than 50 million euros in a new logistics center and expanded assembly areas. This project is called “Forage Go!” and aims to further expand the Bad Saulgau location as a center for forage harvesting. There are currently 850 employees working here, and further growth is being sought with the new infrastructure. How NW reports, an impressive amount of 90,000 cubic meters of earth was moved during the construction of the logistics center to create the necessary foundation.
In a ceremony, site manager Ulrich Nickol and COO Thomas Spiering reiterated how important the innovative strength and quality of the site are for Claas. Spiering emphasized that the new complex was put into operation in time for the season. In this way, they can bring a powerful impetus to production with new products, in particular the “Jaguar 1000” forage harvester series, which will start with the modernized assembly layout. The entire logistics center now includes various areas:
- Ein vollautomatisches Lager für Kleinladungsträger und Europaletten
- Einen Kommissionierbereich
- Lagerräume für große, lackierte Komponenten
- Ein Wareneingang für bis zu drei Lkw gleichzeitig
Inauguration ceremony and guests
The inauguration of the new logistics center was symbolically celebrated with a ribbon cutting, with Mayor Raphael Osmakowski-Miller and Ministerial Director Isabel Kling also present. As the Swabian reports, Dean Peter Müller pointed out the high ceiling height during the blessing of the hall, which enables efficient use of the new space. In addition, the new logistics center is expected to employ 80 people in a multi-shift operation, which should give the location an additional boost.
The demolition of a disused foundry on the site not only created space for the new center, but also opened up the prospect for future projects. In the freed-up area of 10,700 square meters, Claas plans to build a configuration center with 1,700 square meters for tailor-made conversions and product audits in 2026, a decision that shows a good hand for the further development of the location.
Logistics as a growth market
Interest in logistics space and real estate is high throughout the German market. According to a report by Necklaces Locations like Bad Saulgau are of great importance, and the demand for modern logistics solutions will steadily increase in the coming years. With the completion of the new logistics center, Claas is sending a clear signal in this highly competitive environment.
Overall, Claas' investment is not only a step into the future for the company itself, but also an important incentive for the Bad Saulgau region, which is becoming more attractive as a result. It will be exciting to see how this location will develop in the coming years.
