The break-in into the office building is just one of various incidents. In the past, a single-family home on Natorpstrasse was the target of uninvited guests between June 23rd and 29th, 2025. Here, too, the perpetrators entered the house via the garden and the patio door, where they stole a safe and valuable paintings. The police are also asking for any relevant information in this case.

The number of burglaries in Germany has increased alarmingly. In 2023, 77,819 residential burglaries were registered nationwide, which corresponds to an increase of around 18 percent compared to the previous year. On average, 213 break-ins take place every day, with an average loss of 3,500 euros per incident. North Rhine-Westphalia leads the statistics, with a 15 percent increase in residential burglaries since the pandemic.

Protective measures and prevention

A particularly important aspect in the fight against break-ins are preventive measures. Experts recommend combining different security solutions to deter burglars. Whether mechanical fuses or electronic alarm systems, the key to more security lies in a comprehensive protection strategy. The police also provide information about free security advice to help citizens with burglary protection.

With increased vigilance and active participation from the population, the police hope to reduce crime in Hagen. Especially with the current number of cases, it is important to raise awareness of safety and protective measures and to have a good handle on your own safety.

The challenging burglary situation requires collective action. We can only hope that the perpetrators will be caught soon and that the people of Hagen will take the necessary precautions to protect their possessions.
