Hagen Group Appoints Stephen Barth: New Course in the Pet Industry!

A breath of fresh air is blowing through the Hagen Group as the company has appointed Stephen Barth as Senior Vice President of Sales. Barth, who has more than 20 years of sales experience, will lead the U.S. sales strategy across channels including independent pet supplies, specialty retailers, mass market and e-commerce. The Hagen Group is clearly focusing on strong growth and the development of strategic partnerships. Rolf Hagen Jr., the company's CEO, emphasizes how crucial Barth's industry knowledge and leadership are to the company's continued expansion. Barth himself says that he looks forward to working with customers and partners to promote innovation and growth.

Hagen Group is one of the largest players in the pet supplies sector worldwide and has been ensuring the well-being of pets since 1955. Recent developments include the launch of new products that will be showcased at next year's Global Pet Expo. The new items include innovative offerings from the brands Catit, Fluval Aquatics, Exo Terra, Zeus and Bionic. These new products are designed to strengthen the bond between pets and their families, said Jeff San Souci, marketing director for Hagen Group.

Special new launches include the Catit Creamy Cups, which are made from free-range chicken or wild-caught tuna. Also new is the stainless steel Smart 6-meal feeder, which can feed cats up to six meals per day and is controlled via the Catit PIXI app. With the introduction of the PIXI Litter Box, Hagen stays true to the times and offers a modern solution to minimize odors and carrying around litter.

But it's not just the product range that's growing; The market for pet supplies in Germany is also flourishing. According to the last survey, around 6,329 million euros were turned over in the industry in 2022, and online sales are developing rapidly. What is particularly noteworthy is that around 46 percent of households in Germany keep one or more pets. Dogs and cats are very popular, and the demand for high-quality, sustainable products is constantly increasing.

Growth through e-commerce

An important trend is the increasing acceptance of online retail when purchasing pet supplies. In 2022, sales in online retail amounted to around 1,200 million euros and grew by an impressive 14 percent compared to stationary retail. This shows that more and more owners of furry friends appreciate the convenience of online shopping. The trend toward humanizing pets and increased interest in sustainably produced products are doing their part to boost the market.

In these fast-paced times, it is always advisable to keep an eye on what is happening - both for companies like the Hagen Group and for consumers. The year 2024 promises a lot of fresh ideas and innovations that can make everyday life with our pets even more beautiful.

The innovation and growth in the industry are clearly visible, even if inflationary pressures and other challenges exist. Especially in times like these, companies that can adapt and offer new solutions are in demand. It will be exciting to see what surprises the Hagen Group will bring us in the future.
