Hern autumn swimming courses: 2,000 euros for 360 happy children!

The autumn holidays are just around the corner and with them begins an exciting chapter for 360 children in Herne: Thanks to a grant of 2,000 euros from the Mondritterschaft Wanne-Eickel and the Herner Sparda-Bank, the autumn swimming courses as part of the “NRW can swim” program can now be offered for just 10 euros per participant. This initiative not only ensures a fun time in the water, but also increases safety as children learn an important life skill.

A total of 30 swimming courses are offered, which take place during the autumn holidays. The three-year courses are specifically designed for children aged 4 to 10 and offer a wide range of skills to help them be safe in the water. During the courses, children learn basic techniques such as gliding, floating, jumping and diving, which are essential for safe swimming skills. A special highlight: All participants will then receive a voucher for the Herner Pools so that they can continue to be active in the water after the courses.

Water habituation and swimming skills

As Moritz Streicher, branch manager of Sparda Bank, emphasizes, learning to swim is of immense importance for children. It not only offers security, but also unforgettable experiences. Mustafa Kandil from the Moon Knighthood emphasizes the joy of the children about the swimming badges that they can earn during the courses. For many, the Seahorse Badge is a significant step that represents their first success in the water.

The courses are specifically aimed at beginners. The course is aimed at children aged 4 and over who should learn to familiarize themselves with the element of water. It is important that the children are already used to water to a certain extent. You not only learn how to swim breaststroke, but also how to cleverly integrate the breathing process into the movements of your arms and legs. Bathing rules and safe use in the water are also taught.

Together for better swimming ability

Support from parents is also important. While the children learn their swimming skills without parental supervision, they can help with changing. If your child is not yet confident in the water, we recommend that you first take a water familiarization course. The aim is that every child can act safely in the water, e.g. by jumping, diving or pushing off.

The shared commitment to safe swimming skills is clear: Dr. Pia Klems from “Herne can swim” thanks the partners for their continued support. We work together to ensure that the children are given the opportunity to learn their swimming skills in a playful way. Further information about swimming courses can be found at Water fun as well as on the websites of the respective providers Wananas and Hello Herne.
