Help Charly the dog: joy of life after six years of being chained!
A small miracle of animal love is happening in the heart of Herne-Wanne: The animal shelter has taken in the loyal dog Charly, who had to live under extremely unfavorable conditions in the past. For six whole years, Charly was tied to a chain, had only a small hut to protect him and hardly any space to move around. Despite this difficult past, Charly exudes joy in life and enjoys the walks that he is finally granted. The animal shelter is now looking for a loving home for this four-legged friend that will provide him with gentle and clear guidance. Particular patience and structure are required because Charly had already been placed once before, but it didn't work out because of the children in the family. If you are interested, you can contact us directly by email email_an@tierheim-herne-wanne.de to find out more about him and perhaps win the animal shelter as a new friend.
But Charly is by no means the only dog hoping for a new home at the Herne-Wanne animal shelter. The other four-legged friends are also waiting full of hope for the right family. For example, there is Archie, a charming mixed breed who was born on February 13th, 2023 and has been living in the animal shelter since April 27th, 2024. Archie comes from a war zone in Ukraine and came to Germany with an injured, partially amputated front leg, but has since recovered well. The quiet male is very popular with employees and volunteers, loves cuddles and shows positive social behavior towards other dogs. It could be ideal for beginner dog owners.

Another bearer of hope is Momo, also a mixed breed. Momo came to the animal shelter on May 24, 2024 and also comes from Ukraine. While she has not suffered any physical damage, she does show panic at means of transportation and loud noises. Momo is relaxed and doesn't like running around, which makes her a perfect companion for a quiet family, although there shouldn't be any very wild children in the household.
Then there is Jonas, also a mixed breed and already rehomed once, but brought back due to an incident with his owners. He is confident and loves long walks, but has suffered a partial amputation of two toes and needs an experienced hand to make him feel confident. Jonas is therefore not suitable for beginners.
Kalle, a Mioritic, also comes with an interesting backstory. He was brought back due to lack of time and needs a lot of space, which is why a garden or property is important. Kalle is friendly, but needs a certain period of adjustment before he can trust him.
