Medebach convinces: Companies praise administration, criticize traffic!
The current results of the IHK location survey 2025 for Medebach were presented by Jörg Nolte (IHK) and Franziska Petri. At the event, Mayor Thomas Grosche and economic development officer Michael Aufmhof were satisfied with the feedback from the 83 IHK member companies that took part in the survey. Various location factors such as infrastructure, traffic, skilled workers and the city's administration were evaluated. Medebach received an overall grade of 2.73, which is above the average for the IHK district.
The feedback was particularly positive on topics such as mobile phone coverage, medical care and broadband internet. General safety, sports and leisure opportunities and the compatibility of work and family life were also rated highly. The companies value the service and support from the local administration as well as the accessibility of the contact persons. But there are also critical points: the accessibility of national roads, the availability of commercial airports and local public transport were areas in which the response was dissatisfied. The entrepreneurs expressed their desire for a better supply of housing and an optimized traffic situation as well as support in recruiting skilled workers.
Comparison with Lippetal
In contrast, the IHK Region Hellweg-Sauerland also rated the municipality of Lippetal positively in its location survey. 69 of 563 companies took part, which corresponds to a participation of 12.26%. The average rating for Lippetal as a business location is 2.85, slightly above the IHK district average of 2.75. Here too, many companies see an improvement in the economic situation: 35.4% of those surveyed believe there is progress, while 55.4% see no change. Influential wishes include, among other things, improving mobile phone coverage and support in recruiting skilled workers. Satisfaction with administration and local politics remains high, as the speed and accessibility of services are praised.
Common challenges
Despite the positive aspects that were assessed in both Medebach and Lippetal, both communities face a challenge: the need to improve mobile phone coverage and local public transport. While Medebach is very popular in some areas, the satisfaction in Lippetal is also reflected in the feedback - this is primarily about measures to support local companies and the creation of conditions that promote the establishment of new companies.
The positive results of both surveys get to the heart of the relationship between business and administration. Mayor Grosche from Medebach emphasizes the trust that is essential for the future development of the location, while the IHK emphasizes strategic development as a central aspect. It remains exciting to see how cities will develop in the coming years and whether the desired improvements can be realized.
Individual evaluations from all municipalities are also available on the IHK website and provide further insight into the results of this comprehensive survey. While the cities are actively working on their attractiveness, the clear message from entrepreneurs is important: Where improvements are needed, all players should get involved so that Medebach, Lippetal & Co. continue to be considered places that are friendly to living and working.
