Riding tournaments and festivals: An unforgettable weekend in Paderborn!
What's new in the region? On the weekend from June 19th to 22nd, 2025, citizens and visitors in the Paderborn area can expect a colorful program of events! Whether sport, culture or celebrations – there is something for everyone.
One of the main attractions is the traditional **equestrian tournament in Etteln**, which takes place in the pretty Flyenhof. Here the young riders compete at the WBO Day and show their skills in dressage and jumping tests. On Saturday and Sunday, spectators can see the talented children in action, and the best part: entry is free! Dressage tests up to S*** level and jumping tests up to M* level are planned. Festivals and celebrations in Scherfede
In Warburg-Scherfede, the town's 1200th anniversary is celebrated with a big festival. Under the motto “A village with history(s)”, visitors can expect a great program that includes, among other things, the 11th district family festival, a HEIO party and a traditional parade. Activities for the little ones are also offered, such as performances by the children's musician “herrH” and the band “QuerfeldBeat”. A wonderful occasion to get together with friends and family and celebrate the village community!
Summer festival and much more
The **Summer Festival** takes place in the Paderborn Heidecenter. On Friday and Saturday, visitors can enjoy the festival from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Friday) and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (Saturday). Entertainment is provided and it's worth stopping by.
You shouldn't miss the **Heidefest in Paderborn**. From June 20th to 22nd there will be numerous highlights here, such as a DJ hit party and a live band from the 90s, the “Beat Police”. An exciting children's program rounds off the offering, and entry is free here too.
Another cultural highlight is the open-air performance of “Petticoat and Rock 'n' Roll” in Paderborn-Schoß Neuhaus, which starts on June 20th. The piece promises an entertaining evening amidst a picturesque backdrop. The open-air stage also offers other performances, such as “Emil and the Detectives” – a real hit for young and old spectators.
Dinosaur exhibition for the whole family
For anyone interested in the prehistoric world, the **Dino XXL Expo** is a must! This impressive exhibition runs until July 6th and is open to visitors every day. Highlights such as the Tyrannosaurus Rex and the Brontosaurus take guests back to the time of the dinosaurs.
At the riding tournament that took place shortly before, some riders from the region also showed brilliant performances. Elisabeth Walter and Emma Butterer achieved great placings with their horses in Königsbach-Stein. Walter secured victory in the E dressage class with her mare Marquesa. A great experience that led to a satisfied return home, as Reiterverein Heidelsheim reports.
