China Lights in Kleve: Over 20,000 visitors despite drizzle!
The magical light show “China Lights” in Kleve Zoo has started again this year and has been attracting large crowds right from the start. Niederrhein Nachrichten reports that over 20,000 visitors admired the new, glowing installations in the first two weeks. Despite the sometimes adverse weather with rain and cool temperatures, the attraction has lost none of its splendor.
From now on, Kleve Zoo will open its gates daily from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., with last entry at 8:30 p.m. This spectacular event will take place until November 30th, and passionate zoo visitors can look forward to exciting themed worlds. The highlights include an impressive, glowing underwater world, a 30-meter-long giant dragon and scenes from the insect world and large swans.
New attractions for the whole family
This year there is also an illuminated Playmore fantasy adventure playground for little explorers, which has interactive elements. With all the festive light installations, made from thousands of LEDs and artfully designed lantern objects, visitors can leave everyday life behind them and immerse themselves in another world.
An important plus point is that the animals in the zoo remain largely undisturbed. There are enough retreat areas for them to retreat so that they can stay in their usual surroundings despite the hustle and bustle. Of course, there are also some tips to keep in mind: dogs, even assistance dogs, are not allowed at the event, and access to the exhibition on busy days can only be granted with pre-purchased tickets.
Price structure and arrival
The entry prices for “China Lights” are as follows: adults pay 17 euros, while children between two and 13 years old go for 10.50 euros. What's new: From 2025 there will be combination tickets that include a visit to the Tiergarten and “China Lights”. The prices for these combination tickets are 24.50 euros for adults and 15.50 euros for children. It should be noted that staying in the zoo between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. is not possible with a combination ticket.
The organizers also recommend leaving your car behind and preferring to travel by public transport or bicycle. Parking options are available, among other places, at the comprehensive school at Forstgarten and near Wasserburgplatz. If you want to experience a day of great light, you should get a ticket in good time, as admission may be restricted on busy days. All tickets are date-specific and non-rebookable or refundable.
There are numerous sponsors behind “China Lights”, including Niederrhein Tourismus, Sparkasse Rhein-Maas and many more, who help make this fantastic event an unforgettable experience. So if you're looking for an eventful evening for the whole family, you shouldn't miss the magical light show in Kleve Zoo. Further information and tickets are available online at tiergarten-kleve.de.
