Big meeting in Kalkar: The future of the Marissa Lake Village is certain!

On June 17, 2025, an important meeting of the cooperation partners of the Marissa Lake Village Rees holiday park took place in Wunderland Kalkar. Well-known personalities were present, including Dr. Bruno Ketteler, economic development officer for the city of Kalkar, and Dr. Britta Schulz, the mayor of the city of Kalkar. Jan van Eck and Marten Foppen from DeFabrique Holding, Erik Winther, managing director of Marissa Lake Village, and other representatives from the region were also there. Together they discussed future cooperation in order to further strengthen and advance the region through the innovative project, as lokalklick.eu reports.

The Marissa Lake Village, which is being built on the picturesque Reeser Meer, includes around 450 residential units in Scandinavian style and is intended to be the largest tourist project in North Rhine-Westphalia. “We rely on the involvement of local companies in order to strengthen trade, gastronomy and leisure activities,” explained Jörn Franken, who works in the staff department for tourism, culture, city marketing and public relations in the city of Rees. The aim of the project is to offer guests a unique experience and to promote the region as an attractive holiday destination.

A natural paradise for everyone

The Marissa Lake Village not only offers retreats for families and couples, but also combines experiences close to nature with urban connections. Over 500 houses in Scandinavian design are planned, the sizes of which vary between 69 and 192 m². Each of the holiday homes has its own plot of land, and many also have direct access to the water. The total area of the resort extends over 65 hectares and is embedded in the green hills and lakes of the Reeser Meer. If you would like to find out more about the plans, you can find detailed information on the project website marissa-lakevillage.de.

The first construction phase focuses on the northern area, with the water quality of the Reeser Meer being up to 18 meters deep and perfect for swimming and leisure activities. With a location of just 1 to 1.5 hours by car from cities such as Düsseldorf, Dortmund and Essen, as well as the proximity to the Dutch border, the holiday park is easily accessible for many travelers. The purchase prices start at €435,000 net, including land and equipment, although payment is only due upon completion.

Shaping a shared future

The participants of the meeting in Wunderland Kalkar emphasized the importance of further meetings in order to intensify cooperation. Topics such as shopping, guest accommodation and leisure activities will continue to be the focus in the future in order to sustainably develop and enrich the region. “It’s important, our goal is to create a lively and welcoming environment,” said Sebastian Hense, Mayor of Rees.

The positive prospects for the Marissa Lake Village not only allow the project initiators to look to the future with optimism, but also promise innovative impulses for the local economy. At further meetings, concrete steps to implement the points discussed should be determined in order to offer guests an unforgettable experience.
