Southern district of Kleve: BordersKlar” protects primary school students from danger!
In today's fast-paced world, it is more important than ever to make children aware of their own limitations. The Caritas Association Geldern-Kevelaer has also taken this to heart and is offering the prevention project “GrenzenKlar” for primary school children in the third and fourth grades in the southern district of Kleve. How Lokalklick.eu reports, the project aims to give children a secure sense of their personal boundaries and to protect them from sexual violence.
The project, which is developed and implemented by the Caritas Advisory Center for Sexual Violence against Children and Young People, offers schools free workshops. These include three age-appropriate units of around 90 minutes each, which cover topics such as body awareness, dealing with closeness and distance, and recognizing inappropriate touching. The experienced specialists Sylvia Flegel and Alexandra Ludzinski accompany the workshops and offer the children a protected environment to talk about “good” and “bad” secrets.
Interactive methods and parental involvement
A highlight of the project is the interactive and creative methodology that suits the children's age group. Teachers or people from school social work accompany the project so that the children receive support if they need it. Parents are also actively involved. A letter to parents and an online parents' evening make it possible to find out more about the content and goals of the project.
The feedback from schools is consistently positive. Many teachers describe the project as important and valuable for the children's development. Since funding is guaranteed by project funds from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, schools can simply contact the specialist advice center at the Caritas Center in Geldern to receive more information and registration options.
Cultural resonance and social relevance
Another aspect of the project is a complementary stage play, which is being developed by the Klever theater art school “Theater im Fluss”. This can be booked as an option and complements the workshops perfectly. Studies show that early education about rights and boundaries helps children to assert themselves in difficult situations.
The decision to integrate such projects into schools confirms the social trend of protecting children as best as possible and sensitizing them to important topics in a playful way. As we see in an increasingly complex world, such education is crucial.
