4,100 students set a peaceful example: world record attempt in Menden!
In the heart of Menden there was a lot going on today: over 4,100 students gathered for an impressivePeace signto form. There has never been anything like this here before. The exciting event took place on a stadium lawn that was specially prepared for the occasion. How WDR reports, this ambitious project is organized by a committed network of students who began preparations a year ago.
What is particularly exciting is that the students gather here without there being a football game on the agenda. Instead, they came together to send a strong message for humanity and democracy. Sophie Rüther, part of the organizing team, was visibly proud as she coordinated the groups on the field. “It is so important that we set an example together,” she explained.
Traffic regulations and safety
To ensure students have safe access to the stadium, key roads have been closed. ThePublic order officeand the police worked hand in hand to get everyone safely into the stadium. These measures were taken not only to protect the participants, but also to maintain order during the world record attempt.
The exciting moment that everyone was waiting for lasted only five minutes and was achieved by theRecord Institutemonitored. After this short period of time, the audience heard the good news at 9:30 a.m.: the world record was achieved! This is a great success not only for the students but also for the entire city.
The inspiration behind the campaign
Long before the students in Menden became active, there were already other creative attempts to set such records. An excellent example comes from Karlsruhe, where a group of five students from the Weiherwaldschule had the idea Paper streamers to fold to create a large peace sign. These students wanted to find a new activity during their breaks after the ban on Pokémon cards and invested many hours into this creative project. They also made a statement – just in a slightly different way.
Such actions show that the desire for peace is strong among the young generation in both Menden and Karlsruhe. And perhaps this world record attempt will inspire others to follow their example and advocate for positive change in creative ways.
