Lippe district protects hedgehogs: three new hedgehog castles for the winter!
At a time when many animal species are increasingly threatened, regional actors are working to ensure the survival of hedgehogs in our beautiful nature. The Lippe district has now taken concrete steps and built three hedgehog castles in Detmold and Blomberg. These tired little creatures, which are on the red list of endangered species, need our help to survive the winter without damage. Citizens are also asked to actively participate. If you have space in the garden, you can build your own hedgehog castle using a simple building plan. Two pieces of wood, about 70cm long and at least 10cm in diameter, are used to form the structure, while a thick layer of foliage provides additional insulation.
The hedgehog – an endangered animal
