Pirate Party excited: New town hall team in Hilden sets course!
This week things will get serious for the new councils in Hilden and the Mettmann district. The parties are starting their work and the first congratulations have already been expressed. Particularly in the spotlight is Jeanine Brinks, who congratulated the newly elected city councilor Andreas Benoit on the constitution of the new council. The Pirate Party can look forward to having a representative voice in the Hilden city council and the Mettmann district council - a strong signal for the voters!
Being able to start the new electoral period with two elected members is a great success, especially since the Pirate Party's goals are clear: citizen participation, transparency, digitalization and a future-oriented economic and financial policy are at the top of the agenda. Jeanine Brinks is also a strong advocate for data protection and privacy, especially in times of chat control and data retention. “We have to make sure that the rights of citizens are not compromised,” said Brinks.
Strong together
The new faction communities have already taken shape: Thomas Küppers in the Mettmann district council has merged with the UWG, while the “Citizen Action|Pirates” faction was founded in Hilden, in which Andreas Benoit serves as deputy group leader. These collaborations open up new opportunities for the Pirates to become even more committed to the concerns of citizens. Gabriele Glaser, deputy district chairwoman, highlights the valuable partnerships that the Pirate Party has concluded.
“It's better together!” says Küppers and promises that the new parliamentary groups will ensure that the voices of citizens are heard in the political committees. Dialogue is the be-all and end-all when it comes to representing the interests of local people.
An outlook on the challenges
The start of the new political period brings not only joy, but also challenges. The topics of digitalization and citizen participation are of enormous importance, especially today. It is time to find innovative solutions to make the city of Hilden and the Mettmann district sustainable. The focus is not only on the tried and tested methods, but also on involving all citizens in this process.
The next few months will show whether the Pirate Party can score points with its fresh approach. We can only hope that they have a good hand in implementing their ideas and can justify the trust of the voters.
