Art from Mönchengladbach conquers Istanbul: Löwentraut delights visitors!

Leon Löwentraut, the up-and-coming artist from Mönchengladbach, has made a name for himself in recent years and is now celebrating another milestone in his career. He is currently presenting his solo exhibition entitled “Renklerle Dostluk – Friendship in Colors” at the renowned Tarik Zafer Tunaya Cultural Center in Istanbul. This show is supported by the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism and runs until November 15, 2025. The doors are open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. to give art lovers the opportunity to admire Löwentraut's works.

What can visitors expect? A total of twelve paintings are shown, which lie between figuration and abstraction. Löwentraut himself describes his style as “expressive-abstract”. At the opening on November 1st, numerous guests from politics, business and the art scene were present who were enthusiastic about the art of the 27-year-old.

International success and local roots

Leon Löwentraut was born in Kaiserslautern in 1998 and has been painting since he was seven. He lives mainly in the south of Portugal and in Mönchengladbach, where his artistic roots lie. With an impressive list of international exhibitions that includes cities such as New York, London, Venice and Paris, Löwentraut is now one of Germany's most important young artists. His works have also found their place in well-known collections worldwide and enjoy high recognition.

The show in Istanbul is not only another highlight in his career, but also an expression of his artistic vision. Löwentraut attaches great importance to presenting his work in museum and institutional contexts, which is reflected in the support from the Turkish ministry. On December 1, 2023, he will also be awarded the Ernst Barlach Prize for Fine Arts, which further consolidates his position in the art market.

A connection of cultures

The title of the exhibition alone reveals a lot about the artist's intention: “Friendship in Colors” is intended to celebrate the connection between different cultures and emphasize togetherness. Löwentraut uses his creative platform to build bridges and encourage conversations. At a time when cultural exchange seems more important than ever, he brings a piece of his homeland to Istanbul and creates space for encounters.

For anyone interested in art or curious, the exhibition is a wonderful opportunity to get to know the diversity and depth of Löwentraut's work. With over a million followers on Instagram, he also attracts attention online. It remains to be hoped that many will be able to take advantage of the opportunity to experience his artwork and perhaps immerse themselves in the world of expressive and abstract art.
