Reactions and support
The chairman of the Association of German Circus Companies, Ralf Huppertz, commented on the incident and described it as a tragic accident. He explained that artists are often exposed to certain risks and 100 percent safety cannot always be guaranteed. Mayor Karsten Vogt was dismayed by the events and expressed his condolences to the relatives of the deceased artist.
After the incident, an appeal was launched by the police. People who left the tent after the accident are asked to call a care hotline to avoid possible trauma, especially for children. The accident left a lasting impression on many of those present and the mood in the tent is no longer the same after the dramatic minutes.
The circus only gave its first performance on Friday, and further performances were already being planned. However, due to the tragic circumstances, the tent is expected to be dismantled at short notice. The accident has shocked the circus world and shows once again how fast and unpredictable life in the circus can be.
