On the night of August 13, 2025, the Remscheid fire department was called to Tersteegenstrasse in the Kremenholl district at 3:25 a.m. due to a smell of fire. On site it turned out that a garage complex was on fire. The emergency services quickly gained access to the garage and deployed a fire-fighting team wearing respiratory protection. Fortunately, the fire was confined to a small part of the garage, but there was still heavy smoke that required a quick response. However, this incident was not the only operation for the Remscheid fire department that day. The day before, August 12, 2025, the fire brigade had several operations with some dramatic events. At 2:25 p.m., emergency services were called to a dramatic incident in a forested area near the Wuppertal Dam, where an elderly man had fallen down a slope with his electric vehicle. Fortunately, the injured person was quickly treated by the emergency services and taken to hospital.
Shortly afterwards, at 3:20 p.m., there was a traffic accident on Borner Strasse in which several cars crashed into each other. Three people were injured and also had to be taken to nearby hospitals. During this critical phase, the fire brigade secured the scene and supported the rescue service.
