Frechen 20 loses dramatically: 3 goals within 3 minutes!
In an exciting start to the new season of the Middle Rhine League, SpVg Frechen 20 was unable to score any points in the home game against Siegburger SV on August 31, 2025 and ultimately lost 2-3. The team of coach Okan-Tamer Özbay, who went into the first game full of anticipation, experienced a roller coaster ride of emotions in the Kurt Bornhoff Sports Park.
The encounter started promisingly for Frechen 20, who impressed from the start with high pressing and an offensive style of play. Oskar Martin Hill initially kept the hosts in the game by avoiding a deficit with a save in the first half. Nevertheless, Nico Kuhbier managed to make it 0-1 for Siegburg in stoppage time in the first half, which dampened the mood in the stadium.
Urge phase & ups and downs
After the break things initially looked better for Frechen 20. Koray Kacinoglu equalized in the 60th minute, and a substitution of Simon Doll and Tim Dilley provided additional pressure. But it got even better: Kai-Maxime Vranken turned the game around and put Frechen 20 in the lead. But the joy didn't last long, as a yellow-red card for Hamissou Hassan meant major defensive problems. Within three minutes, Yuta Sakamaki and Juyong Jo made it 3-2 for Siegburger SV.
Fairness awarded
The game between Frechen 20 and Siegburg was not the only highlight of the day. TuS BW Königsdorf, also in action, secured a satisfactory 1-1 draw in the match against FC Hennef. Jan Lucas Mowitz put Hennef in front in the 9th minute, but Mate Herbak equalized for Königsdorf in the 63rd minute. Königsdorf's coach, Takahito Ohno, confirmed after the end of the game that his team's performance had improved compared to the first half.
At the same time, TuS BW Königsdorf received a special award: as the fairest team of the 2024/25 season, it was recognized with an additional bonus of 2,000 euros, while Borussia Lindenthal-Hohenlind and SC Elsdorf took second and third place.
To a new one
The next test for the SpVg Frechen 20 is already coming: The Frechen city derby, which has been brought forward to Friday, 7:30 p.m., promises another exciting encounter for the fans. Özbay will certainly work on the defensive weaknesses in order to perform better next time.
