Mental health in focus: Action day for young people in Dormagen!
The mental health of young people will be the focus of an information event in Dormagen on Friday, November 14th. Organized by the Diakonie Rhein-Kreis Neuss and the city of Dormagen, the children's and youth club “Die Rübe” will be the venue for a wide range of activities aimed at young people aged 14 and over and their parents. From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., everyone interested is invited to discuss essential mental health topics and experience much more. Under the motto “Stop the Loop – Think Freely” an extensive program is offered that is both entertaining and informative.
The event will feature various low-threshold and everyday-oriented activities. From non-alcoholic cocktails to free food including shawarma and falafels to experiential approaches to stress reduction, there's something to suit every taste. If you really want to leave stress behind you, you can get active right away: boxing, ax throwing and archery are on the program. For a relaxing break, mini-games are also planned to help fight against spinning thoughts.
Expert lectures and insights
A highlight of the event are the lectures by experts from various specialist departments who deal with topics relating to mental health. The Mental Health Action Alliance, which brings together over 180 partners, will support the event, as will the “Between the Lines” project and the district crafts. This alliance works all year round to raise awareness in society and wants to break down prejudices by telling the stories of those affected and their families.
In addition, the “Green Ribbon” is presented as a sign of greater acceptance of mental illnesses. Celebrity ribbon wearers are actively involved in counteracting exclusion and ensuring that the topic of mental health takes up more space among the general public. Mental health has set itself the goal of creating awareness of these important issues.
The Antistigma Prize, awarded by the DGPPN and the Action Alliance, is another initiative that shows how important it is to fight against rejection and exclusion. The event in Dormagen not only offers a platform for exchange, but also a space that stimulates thought and brings the importance of mental health to the fore.
So if you are interested in topics of mental health or would like to spend a relaxed evening in good company, the “Rübe” is the right place for you on November 14th. Take the opportunity to find out more, gain new perspectives and simply switch off again!
