Warm Christmas Eve help: Pizzeria Capri supplies 500 nursing staff!

During the contemplative Advent season in Werl, the great power of volunteer work is once again evident. The Pizzeria Capri da Tino provided numerous nursing and medical staff with hot food on Christmas Eve. Over 500 portions were prepared and delivered in an active effort to support those working in the facilities. This is the sixth year in a row that owner Floriana Lovino and her dedicated team have offered this special service. Ten employees volunteered their time to make this day an unforgettable experience.

Five hospitals were supplied this year, including one facility in Werl, two in Soest and two in Unna, and four old people's homes, including one in Körbecke and three in Unna. There is great anticipation when the team rolls out the delicious dishes at 6 p.m. for the late shifts and at 9 p.m. for the night shifts. The menu, priced at ten euros per dish, consisted of a variety of delicacies: pasta, pizza and fresh salads. As a special service, there was also free bread and tartar sauce for everyone who was provided with the culinary offer.

The team in action

Six years of volunteer work is no coincidence. With a clear plan and a well-coordinated team, between 300 and 500 dishes were prepared. The kitchen was manned by seven helpers, while three drivers ensured that the meals arrived at the respective locations on time and fresh. Each driver had his own route - one was responsible for Werl, one for Soest and one for Unna.

After the last delivery, the team finally met at the pizzeria to celebrate Christmas together. The warm gathering is complemented by the arrival of Floriana Lovino's in-laws, who have come from Italy to look after the grandchildren. This makes the celebration a successful end to a busy day.

Volunteer spirit at Christmas time

The pizzeria's commitment shows how important volunteer work is, especially at Christmas time. Traditionally, this time is considered the high point of charity, as various organizations confirm. As [Vostel] reports, there are many ways to get involved during Advent. This ranges from support in care facilities to team events in companies that are committed to social projects.

It is also evident in the region that demand for high-quality beef is increasing, while the classic Christmas goose is losing popularity. This changing consumer behavior is bringing a breath of fresh air to the culinary traditions around the holidays. On New Year's Eve, the Pizzeria Capri da Tino will be active again to continue supplying hospitals and retirement homes. The restaurant remains open between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. and delivers to private customers until 8 p.m. This way, the festive mood will be carried forward into the new year and the community will not be forgotten.

It is particularly worth mentioning that such actions not only cover physical needs - they also show specifically how important coexistence and mutual support are in a society. Whether through food, sharing time or simply being there for one another: togetherness thrives on commitment.
