Rural women on a bike tour: The trip to Soest was so enchanting!
20 rural women from Wadersloh set off to Soest on a beautiful summer weekend to explore the region's beauty by bike for two days. In perfect weather, conviviality, exercise and culture were the focus of the tour, which they started at the parish hall. This inspiring ride reminds us of the importance of community and activity.
The ladies cycled with joy and enthusiasm on the well-developed cycle paths in the area until they made a short stopover at the airport in Bad Sassendorf. Here they enjoyed coffee and cake while watching parachutists jump - a fascinating spectacle that amazed the rural women. After a refreshing break, we continued to Soest, where the first day ended in a cozy Christ beer garden.
Insights into Soest
On the second day, a guided bike tour through the historic old town of Soest was on the agenda. The participants received exciting insights into the history and architecture of this charming city, which is known for its well-preserved buildings. Such cultural experiences not only contribute to education, but also strengthen the sense of community among cyclists.
On the way back, the country women made another stop at the picturesque Kessler Mill. These lovely breaks made it clear how beautiful and relaxing such excursions can be. Thanks to the numerous opportunities that the surrounding area offers, other citizens in Wadersloh can also enjoy similar experiences.

Cycling holidays are on the rise in Germany. Statistics show that 3.6 million Germans have recently ventured on a cycling trip, and demand for e-bikes is increasing, particularly among cyclists between 45 and 64 years old. Cycling is often done with friends or partners, which contributes to the independence and flexibility that cyclists value. Tourists particularly appreciate the hospitality and the associated infrastructure that offers hotels and guesthouses.
Experts attribute the boom in cycle tourism in Central Europe since the 1980s to the good condition of cycle paths and the increasing popularity of e-bikes. The region offers a total of around 40,000 kilometers of cycle paths and is therefore attracting more and more cyclists. Popular long-distance cycle paths include the Weser cycle path and the Elbe cycle path, which are also known across national borders and offer beautiful landscapes.
Wadersloh would like to continue to jump on this trend and offers both locals and visitors great opportunities for unforgettable bike tours, which also brings a lot of joy to society.
