Massive track construction work: Noise pollution in Lintorf until December!

In the coming months, the Cologne area will be characterized by extensive construction work by Deutsche Bahn (DB). These projects particularly concern the modernization and construction of electronic signal boxes (ESTW), which play a central role in train traffic between Cologne, Bonn and Düsseldorf.

A central project is the construction of the new ESTW in Solingen, which is scheduled to go into operation in 2028. Loud Lintorfer The existing signal box technology will be replaced by modern systems in order to efficiently control train traffic between Ratingen, Düsseldorf, Hilden and Immigrath. The extensive construction work, which will take place from June 14th to December 5th, will also result in increased noise pollution for residents in Lintorf. Those affected have already received information about the planned work and can contact DB in the event of severe disruptions.

Investment in the future

The DB is investing around 110 million euros in the “Linker Rhine” project, which will be equipped with advanced technology. This will last until Easter 2023, where, among other things, two module buildings, eleven signal booms and more than 300 kilometers of cable will be laid Cologne railway junction reported. The aim of this comprehensive construction work is to increase flexibility in the Cologne hub and minimize disruptions to train traffic. The switch to modern technology will also advance the digitalization of the rail infrastructure in Germany.

A complete closure between Bonn and Cologne is expected between August 23rd and 26th, resulting in significant diversions. For example, there are no stops at Bonn Hbf for many long-distance trains, which means that some travelers have to expect an increase in travel time of around ten minutes. The DB has announced that it will announce all timetable changes in its systems two weeks before construction begins so that travelers are well informed German railway emphasized.

In parallel to this work, the DB is carrying out maintenance work along the routes between Düsseldorf and Essen, including work on tracks, level crossings and switches. During the route closures, extensive replacement bus services will be organized, which will maintain mobility even during the construction period.

The DB would like to thank the residents for their understanding during the construction work and hopes that everything will go smoothly. Clear communication and timely information should help to keep inconvenience as low as possible.
