New royal couple inspires Greven: A shooting festival for eternity!
Last weekend, the Einigkeit Sandweg shooting club in Greven experienced a festive event that brought the tradition of shooting to life. Members of the club met with King Jan Lodde and Empress Karla Meiners on Thursday to tie wreaths and roses, watch birds and watch an exciting medal shoot. This tradition, which is deeply rooted in Germany's cultural heritage, promotes community and cohesion - elements that play a key role in the Schützenfest, as UNESCO emphasizes.
Friday opened with a march of honor from the club restaurant “Siedlerklause” to the memorial. The deceased from the shooting club were remembered here before the procession marched on to the festively decorated festival site. After an exciting competition, the bird finally fell and Marian Hagedorn was ceremoniously named the new king, with his husband Christian at his side as royal consort.
A new court and honors
The new king appointed a court consisting of Frank and Nadine Hagedorn, Christian and Christine Tüllmann, Tanja and Nils Wichmann, Julia and Felix Runde, Anja Karrengarn and Markus Richter as well as Katrin and Daniel Wellenbrock. In the meantime, the popular imperial shooting took place, in which Hubert Lammers was able to gain the imperial title and made his wife Rosi empress.
One award at the event was the medal shooting awards. The active shooters Alina Feldmann (gold), Ralf Bernsjann (silver) and Frauke Maitland (bronze) won here. Andreas Köster (gold), Max Hagedorn (silver) and Ludger Hagedorn (bronze) triumphed among the non-active shooters. Such competitions are a central part of shooting and reflect the traditions that have been maintained in Germany for decades, such as the Bundesverband , which annually elects the Federal Shooting King.
Festivities and child kings
Saturday brought further celebrations with the welcoming of the new colonel in the club premises, followed by a gathering of the new royal and imperial couple. The parade moved to the festival tent for the royal awarding of the shooting medals, where there was also a big celebration at the royal ball, supported by the DJ team Happy Sound. The badges of honor for long-standing club membership were ceremoniously presented, and the celebrations lasted until the early hours of the morning.
On Sunday the parade to determine the new child and youth king took place, where Maurice Lodde and Celina Gohe were crowned as the new rulers. Monday was then dedicated to the competition for the titles “Dragon Queen” and “Barrel King”, with Nicole Bußmann and Benedikt Hensmann taking first places. Erich Walczak became the new keg king, and Alina Feldmann can now call herself the dragon queen.
With such lively celebrations and commitment, shooting is not only preserved, but also passed on to the next generation. The values of community, friendship and tradition are of essential importance for every club and are strengthened through the many joint activities.
