Summer camp 2025: Sport, fun and friendships for children in the Unna district
The eagerly awaited summer camp 2025 of the KreisSportBund Unna e.V. took place from August 4th to 9th, 2025 in the Hachen sports and conference center. Over 30 children between the ages of 10 and 14 from the Unna district experienced a week full of adventures and fun, with the central theme of “integration through sport” playing a central role. The KSB Unna has been organizing this camp annually since 2017 to support intercultural exchange and the promotion of the German language through sporting activities. According to kamen-web.de, the participants were also able to overcome language barriers in a playful way.
The supervisory team, consisting of experienced specialists such as Manfred Kalix, Thomas Grote, Stivan Khalaf, Andrea Strunk, Corinna Marchewski and Theresa Reimann, ensured a varied program. The children were able to let their creativity run wild with swimming, climbing, African drumming and exciting water sports activities at Lake Sorpe. The huge water slide and the evening barbecues as well as creative craft activities were particularly popular. Highlights were also the canoe tours together and the cheerful games, which brought a lot of joy and laughter.
Integration through sport
The summer camp not only aims at sporting activities, but also intensively promotes intercultural exchange. The motto “Integration through sport” is brought to life in this context. bpb.de emphasizes how important sports clubs are in the social integration of adolescents. Personal contact and shared experience in a sporting environment make a fundamental contribution to overcoming cultural barriers and strengthening the sense of community.
Support for the camp came from numerous sponsors, including Father Tobias, who raised 8,000 euros through a marathon run, as well as various foundations such as the Children's Happiness Foundation and working groups for asylum. These funds are crucial for the realization of such an extensive project and enable the implementation of numerous activities that benefit the children.
Outlook and future activities
A press event in Hachen to demonstrate sponsor support took place during the camp, which underlined the great commitment to this important topic. A follow-up meeting in the KSC Kamen clubhouse on August 27, 2025 will allow everyone involved to reflect on their experiences and develop new ideas for future events. The next summer camp, which is planned for August 17th to 22nd, 2026, is already being anticipated with much anticipation. Registrations for this will be possible from January 2026, as can be found on the [KSB Unna] website (https://www.kreissportbund-unna.de/events/sommercamp).
