Fire brigade up close: Viersen's young fire brigade inspires 70 children!
An exciting day for children and young people in Viersen: The Child Protection Association Viersen e.V. In collaboration with the Viersen youth fire department, we organized an exciting tour of the local fire department control center. On October 27, 2025, around 70 children gathered who not only wanted to collect information about the fire department, but also wanted to light the necessary fire for future offspring.
The event provided a great opportunity to get up close and personal with various fire engines. The little visitors had the opportunity to admire a fire truck with a ladder, tools and flashing lights up close and even sit behind the wheel themselves. Sven Maskos, the head of the Viersen young fire department, showed the children the work of the fire department both in theory and in practice.
Children were interested in questions and answers
With great curiosity, the children asked many questions, which were patiently answered by Sven Maskos and his colleagues. At the end of the tour, everyone agreed: The fire department is essential to the safety of the community because it saves lives, puts out fires and helps in emergencies. The crowning conclusion was a big thank you to everyone involved.
But the Viersen Youth Fire Department is more than just a one-off event. Loud BizArch The youth fire department in Viersen is very popular with the population and has established itself as an important part of firefighting and rescue in the region. With a committed community of over 110,000 volunteer youth leaders in Germany, the fire brigade's youth work secures the future of disaster control.
The importance of youth work
The work of the youth fire department is not limited to practical training in firefighting technology and firefighting. It also promotes social engagement and community awareness. The German youth fire brigade emphasizes that the youth groups are important not only for the fire department itself, but generally for society as a whole. The growing challenges posed by demographic changes and new living conditions require increased support for these initiatives.
In order to ensure long-term development, financial support and low-bureaucratic funding projects for youth associations are essential. That is why there are calls for children's rights to be strengthened and educational offerings to be improved, especially in rural areas. This is the only way to create prospects for young people and to promote active participation in society.
It is clear that the great commitment of the youth fire brigade not only counts for fire protection, but also strengthens the democratic consciousness among young people. Through meaningful projects in youth work, interest in volunteer work can be maintained, which is of great importance for everyone's safety.
