Lotta and Maja receive wildcard for the Heinsberger Mariechen Marathon!
When you think of the carnival in the Heinsberg district, you can't avoid the “Jennys Volksbank Heinsberg Mariechen Marathon”. The wildcard for this popular competition was awarded on November 12, 2025. Jenny Peggen, the initiator of the marathon and experienced dance star, presented these to the talented girls Lotta Chabrié and Maja Gauder. Both are proud of their membership in the RKG “All onger eene Hoot” from Ratheim and present themselves as an innovative dance duo, despite their previous appearances as individual dancers.
The jury was enthusiastic about their application because there has never been a dance duo in the history of the marathon. Thomas Back from Volksbank Heinsberg was positive about the two winners and the duo's premiere. “It’s just great to see how creative and courageous the girls are,” said Back. Lotta and Maja are already planning to intensify their training sessions in order to be optimally prepared for the recording of the fifth marathon edition.
A small anniversary for the carnival
Since Jenny Peggen launched the marathon, a platform has developed for all carnival dancers in the Heinsberg district. Originally launched during the Corona period, when all performances were canceled, the training hall was quickly converted into a recording studio. The marathon now has a considerable reach and has received several hundred,000 views, both regionally and internationally. The fifth edition, which will be recorded at the end of November, is a first small anniversary.
What is particularly noteworthy is that all carnival dancers can take part, regardless of whether they are trained by Jenny Peggen. The participation options range from solo mariechen to dance majors or entire dance guards. A jury will also select a special guest who will appear on stage at the marathon with a wild card.
The recording of the marathon will later be published on YouTube under the channel “@tanzmariechenofficial”. The event is not only gaining attention on site, but is also increasingly attracting online interest, which takes the colorful carnival world beyond domestic borders. So if you're looking for a dose of good cheer, you shouldn't miss the marathon.
