39-year-old from Duisburg missing: Police ask for your help!

In the Ruhr area, more precisely in Duisburg, there is great concern about the fate of a 39-year-old man who has been missing since September 19, 2025. The Wesel district police initiated intensive search measures after the man was reported missing on Saturday. The last known contact occurred on a Friday evening around 10:30 p.m. At this point, the man could have been in an exceptional psychological situation, which is why the public and police are calling for help. Concern for his health and safety is high as investigators fear he may be in danger.

Helicopters and sniffer dogs have already been deployed in the darkness of the night, but so far the search operations have been unsuccessful. The man is around 185 cm tall and is probably wearing dark blue jeans, an olive green T-shirt and gray Adidas shoes with red stripes. The police are asking any citizen who may have information about his whereabouts to call the phone number0281 107 1122or report it directly to a police station. The appeal to the public is becoming increasingly urgent and the police are relying on people to pay attention.

Particular challenge in missing person cases

Investigating missing person cases is often complex. According to information from the Federal Criminal Police Office Persons who deviate from their whereabouts without explanation are considered missing if a risk to life or limb is assumed. Adults have more degrees of freedom, while minors are always considered to be in danger. In 2024, around 18,100 children were missing in Germany alone, with most cases being solved by the end of the year. Depending on age, the clearance rate is usually over 80% and in many cases within the first week of reporting.

The police remind you that any information can be of great importance. The missing man is part of a group of over 9,400 missing people currently registered in police information. A large number of missing people are usually resolved relatively quickly, but in some cases it can take months or even years before a solution is found.

Particularly at risk are minors in care, who often leave voluntarily while staying in accommodation. The police appeal to everyone to be attentive and to make reports that could help clarify the matter.
