Dinslaken Fire Department celebrates successful completion of squad training!
In the city of Dinslaken, an important event for the members of the volunteer fire brigade occurred on October 8, 2025. The participants of the module 3 of the Troop training have successfully demonstrated your knowledge and skills. The course, which is a basis for the active service service, conveys indispensable basic knowledge that the firefighters need for their everyday life.
During this training, the focus was on practical fire fighting, extinguishing water supply as well as the use of foam and combating fires in buildings. On the last day of training, 16 participants had to show their skills in a theoretical proof of performance and a practical acceptance. An examination committee, consisting of representatives of various fire trucks such as city center, Eppinghoven, Oberlohberg and Hiesfeld, accompanied the exam.
Participants and trainers satisfied
Course leader Kevin Zimmermann and fire chief David Marten were more than satisfied with the participants' performance. In a ceremonial round, all graduates received their certificate, which officially certifies their achievements. A special thank you also went to the trainers and the Dinslaken fire department for the excellent catering throughout the course.
The basic training in the volunteer fire brigade, colloquially known as the "basic course", comprises 70 hours of theoretical and practical training. The content is wide and include not only the basics of fire fighting, but also technical assistance and legal issues. The training takes place in various variants: on Saturdays, in the evening during the week or in blocked formats over 10 to 14 days, such as ab-zur-feuerwehr.de.
The path to becoming a firefighter
The training in two parts is firmly anchored in the fire brigade structure. After the successful completion of troops part 1, the troops part 2, which includes regular training services over two years and takes a total of 80 hours. The aim is to enable the participants to perform the functions of the troop man independently. After a successful completion, the official appointment as a firefighter takes place.
Interesting training opportunities then open up after the troop training: from the squad leader to the group leader to specializations such as technical assistance and breathing apparatus wearers are included. At the fire brigade and disaster protection academy, the troop training is regulated in accordance with the state's requirements, as can be found on the website of bks-portal.rlp.de.
The camaraderie and cohesion within the fire department should not be underestimated. Each participant contributes their individual strengths, and the joint training not only promotes technical but also social skills. For many, the fire service is not just a voluntary position, but a calling that they pursue with passion. With the successful implementation of this training module, Dinslaken shows how important good preparation is for an emergency.
