Dinslaken Fire Department celebrates successful completion of squad training!
On October 8, 2025, an important event for the members of the volunteer fire department occurred in the city of Dinslaken. The participants of Module 3 of the Squad man training have successfully demonstrated their knowledge and skills. The course, which forms the basis for active duty, provides essential basic knowledge that firefighters need for their everyday lives.
During this training, the focus was on practical firefighting, the supply of extinguishing water as well as the use of foam and fighting fires in buildings. On the last day of training, 16 participants had to demonstrate their skills in a theoretical performance test and a practical test. An examination committee, consisting of representatives from various fire departments such as Stadtmitte, Eppinghoven, Oberlohberg and Hiesfeld, accompanied the examination.
Participants and trainers satisfied
Course leader Kevin Zimmermann and fire chief David Marten were more than satisfied with the participants' performance. In a ceremonial round, all graduates received their certificate, which officially certifies their achievements. A special thank you also went to the trainers and the Dinslaken fire department for the excellent catering throughout the course.
Basic training in the volunteer fire department, colloquially known as the “basic course,” includes 70 hours of theoretical and practical training. The content is broad and includes not only the basics of firefighting, but also technical assistance and legal issues. The training takes place in different variants: on Saturdays, evenings during the week or in blocked formats over 10 to 14 days, as ab-zur-feuerwehr.de explains.
The path to becoming a firefighter
The training in two parts is firmly anchored in the fire brigade structure. After successfully completing Truppmann Part 1, Truppmann Part 2 follows, which includes regular training services over two years and takes a total of 80 hours. The aim is to enable the participants to carry out the functions of the squad leader independently during operations. After successful completion, you will be officially appointed as a firefighter.
Interesting training opportunities then open up after squad training: from squad leader to group leader to specializations such as technical assistance and breathing apparatus wearer, everything is included. At the fire brigade and disaster control academy, squad training is regulated in accordance with the state's requirements, as can also be found on the bks-portal.rlp.de website.
The camaraderie and cohesion within the fire department should not be underestimated. Each participant contributes their individual strengths, and the joint training not only promotes technical but also social skills. For many, the fire service is not just a voluntary position, but a calling that they pursue with passion. With the successful implementation of this training module, Dinslaken shows how important good preparation is for an emergency.
