Register now: Exciting summer holiday courses at the Junior University of Wuppertal!
The summer holidays are just around the corner and for the little researchers in Wuppertal there is no better place to spend their days off exciting than at the Junior University of Wuppertal. Anticipation and creativity are in the air, as registration for a colorful range of courses begins on June 18, 2025, which will introduce children and young people to new things. Under the motto “Discover, Research and Learn”, the Junior University offers a variety of activities for young talents between the ages of four and twenty.
Registration for the holiday courses runs until June 23, 2025, at 10 a.m. The places will then be allocated by lottery. Even after the registration deadline, there will be remaining places available that can be booked via the Junior University website. Participation is uncomplicated, with no special requirements such as grades or previous knowledge required. The courses are designed to be accessible to all children and young people at low fees, which is intended to promote participation. In addition to the local offerings, online courses are also possible for students from all over Germany, as sommer.uni-wuppertal.de describes.
Diverse range of courses
The Junior University offers an exciting range of courses. Kids aged four to six can look forward to the program “Kling, Klang & Co. – Adventures in the World of Hearing”. This is about discovering sounds, understanding tones as waves and even building a corded telephone. For the slightly older artists, aged seven to ten, the course “Art as a thank you – sculptures for the heroes of volunteer work” is on the agenda, where they design their own sculptures, which are then ceremoniously handed over in November.
But that's not all. A highlight will be the “Experience Wupper” action day on August 14th, where up to 100 children aged seven to ten will be confronted with environmental issues in a practical way. Measurements of water quality and the experience of environmental and nature conservation are the focus of this exciting event. Older participants aged eleven to 14 can look forward to an intensive discussion of the challenges of people with disabilities and the topic of inclusion in the course “Reality Check: A Life with Disabilities”. For young people aged 14 and over there is the course “Understanding violence – reacting strongly”, in which ways to prevent violence are developed.
A special highlight this year will be the “GameJam”, which will take place from August 15th to 17th. Here, creative minds can design and present their own computer game in groups. Day courses for open all-day facilities also ensure broad participation, which can be organized directly by the schools without a lottery system.
