Wuppertal indoor football: Who will win the title in the most exciting tournament?
A thrilling sports weekend is coming up in Wuppertal when the people of Vohwinkel host the indoor soccer city championships. On December 29, 2025, fans can look forward to exciting encounters as the region's best amateur teams fight for the title.
The last edition of the tournament in 2025 ended with an impressive victory for TSV Union, who beat TSV 05 Ronsdorf 2-0 in the final. But this year the Union had to defend its title. The district league team already failed in qualifying group 3 due to the strong teams of TSV Fortuna and TSV Beyenburg. In general, the favorites for the upcoming tournament are FSV Vohwinkel and the regional league team WSV, both of which have high expectations, as wuppertaler-rundschau.de reports.
About the best teams and the tournament process
Overall, the supporters keep their fingers crossed for several district league teams, including Cronenberger SC, TSV 05 Ronsdorf, SSV Germania, FK Jugoslavija and Viktoria Rott. SC Sonnborn, named the best district league team on November 9th, is also seeded. The other starting places were awarded to Fortuna, Beyenburg, TuS Grün-Weiß, SC Uellendahl, SV Jägerhaus Linde, SV Heckinghausen, TFC Wuppertal and Hellas Wuppertal.
The first kick-off will be at 4 p.m. today, followed by the semi-final at 5:30 p.m. and the grand final at 6:50 p.m. Around 100 volunteers ensure everything runs smoothly and, in addition to entertainment, they also offer food for visitors. SOPPsec GmbH is responsible for security during the tournament, while the medical service is provided by Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe Wuppertal.
Entrance fees and arrival
If you don't want to miss the games, you can purchase tickets at the box office: 10 euros for adults and 8 euros reduced for schoolchildren, students, pensioners and severely disabled people with ID. It is important to remember that only cash is accepted and the doors are open from 9am.
When traveling, we strongly recommend that you visit the PA and PB car parks on Max-Horkheimer-Straße, where visitors can park for free. If you travel by public transport, you avoid potential problems with limited parking options. It should also be noted that Albert-Einstein-Straße can only be used with special parking permits. Severely disabled guests with “G” or “aG” ID cards are allowed to enter free of charge. Vehicles that block escape routes will be rigorously towed away.
Unsafe game distances
Unfortunately, such incidents are not new in amateur football. In fact, the number of cancellations increased after the corona pandemic, as sportschau.de reports. Fortunately, the current DFB data shows that the number of game abandonments is decreasing, which gives hope for the future. Measures such as the stop concept and the captain's rule are intended to help defuse conflicts in heated moments. With all this information in mind, the Wuppertal residents can look forward to the indoor football tournament in the coming hours with a mixture of excitement and anticipation. A complete success is on the agenda, both in terms of sport and the community spirit of the helpers and spectators.
