B 420 in Wörrstadt: renovation completed – traffic opened to everyone!
The renovation work on federal highway 420 in Wörrstadt is dragging on, but a ray of hope is in sight. From Friday afternoon, August 15, 2025, a section of the B 420 will be reopened to traffic. The almost 1.9 kilometer long section between the planned B 420/L 401 roundabout and the junction with Pariser Straße can then be used again. This will free up an important traffic artery that is used by around 12,500 vehicles every day and reduce diversions through the construction site. In a further step, the intersection of B 420/L 401 will be converted into a 38 meter roundabout, completion of which is scheduled for December 2025.
These comprehensive renovation measures are not only a response to the increasing traffic load, but also a goal to improve traffic flow and significantly reduce the risk of accidents at the junction. The traffic load on the L 401 is around 7,300 vehicles every day. This route is usually very busy and the current renovation measures are a step in the right direction to make traffic safer. The responsible authorities also ensure that road users will be closely informed about the progress during the construction period so that there are as few interruptions to everyday life as possible.
Detours and safety precautions
Although part of the B 420 will soon be accessible again, the full closure at the construction site remains in place for structural and safety-related reasons. Road users who have to avoid the construction site should use the A 61 and A 63 motorways. These diversions can result in longer journey times during peak hours, so it is advisable to plan your route well in advance.
The extensive construction project is associated with costs of 2 million euros - a process that is in the interest of modern transport infrastructure. According to the 2023 Transport Investment Report, the federal government has clear goals: to promote the maintenance and modernization of existing transport networks in order to ensure sustainable mobility and increase the quality of life of citizens. Not only roads, but also railways and waterways are included in the planning, which ultimately contributes to strengthening economic conditions. Civic life should not only be preserved, but above all improved.
With the continuous implementation of these measures, it is hoped that traffic flow in Wörrstadt will soon be smooth again and citizens can benefit from safer streets. Those responsible will also closely monitor the construction work until its final completion in December 2025.
