Get involved: Child Protection Association is looking for helpers for children and families!

The Neustadt-Bad Dürkheim Child Protection Association focuses on finding committed volunteers to work with children, young people and families. In an effort to further expand support for disadvantaged children, the organization hosts information evenings aimed at those interested in taking up volunteer work in this area. These events will take place next January 2026.

The first information event starts on Wednesday, January 14th at 7 p.m. online via Zoom. On this evening, experienced members of the Child Protection Association will provide insight into the various ways in which you can volunteer. The second event will follow one day later, on Thursday, January 15th, also at 7 p.m., and will take place at the premises of the Child Protection Association in Neustadt, Hindenburgstraße 1. The access link to the online event will be available after registration at buero@kinderschutzbund-nw-duew.de shipped. Further information is also available by telephone on 06321 80055.

Diverse volunteer work opportunities

Volunteering in the Child Protection Association is varied and ranges from helping with homework and supporting families to administrative work, fundraising and public relations. At the end you can even be elected to the board. This is a great opportunity to meet like-minded people and upskill while making a valuable contribution. The Child Protection Association has over 50,000 members in more than 400 local associations in Germany, making it the largest child protection organization in the country. Membership is possible in both local and state associations, which also includes participation in important member meetings.

What does volunteer work with children actually look like? According to experts, long-term commitment is crucial for children's emotional development. Children need stability, continuity and reliability. Short-term assignments can have negative effects on their development. This makes it all the more important for volunteers to prepare well, which includes more than just playing with children. It is necessary to offer volunteers valuable support before and during their assignments in order to fulfill their role while having a positive influence.

The challenge is that children from difficult social backgrounds are often already burdened. Working in such contexts requires sensitivity and the awareness that children can become emotionally attached to the volunteers. It is important to convey to the children that the volunteers' presence is limited in time to avoid disappointment.

Overall, the Child Protection Association rushed to give those interested the opportunity to actively support the well-being of children and their families - a commitment that is more urgent than ever today.
