Artist friendship between Bad Kreuznach and Bourg-en-Bresse is blossoming!
On June 30, 2025, the art scene can look back on a long and successful friendship not only in Bad Kreuznach, but also in Bourg-en-Bresse. The good relationships between artistic groups in the two cities have existed for over 60 years and will continue to be celebrated. At a recent exhibition in Bourg, the Kreuznach artists had the opportunity to present their works in the “Salle de fêtes”, and part of the event was the great joy of receiving Béatrice Morin, the city's deputy for international relations.
The exhibition, which took place in May, showed works of art by 78 artists from ArtCité Bourg and 13 artists from Bad Kreuznach. A total of 188 works were exhibited on an extremely current topic, freedom. In addition to the creators, many school classes and workshops were involved in creating a large installation on the theme of freedom, which impressively underlined the community aspect. A particular highlight were the works of Daniel de Souza, an artist whose sculptures made of patinated terracotta and bronze address cultural and ethnic diversity.
About friendship and art
The Kreuznach delegation, which returned after three days in Bourg-en-Bresse, was visibly enriched by the impressions and exchange with their French colleagues. Dany Madier, the chairwoman of the Bad Kreuznach artist group, and her deputy Annette Thiergarten were recognized for their commitment. The two groups are already looking forward to the coming year, when they will realize a new joint art project in Bad Kreuznach in 2026, which will take place in the Schlosspark Museum.
At the exhibition in Bourg-en-Bresse, a constant improvement was noted in the quality of the works and their presentation. Talents such as those represented by the painting “Dance Freedom” by Renée Sibuet or the work by Claude Tanazacq entitled “Espoir des sans-papiers” testify to a high artistic level and a deep engagement with social issues.
Hidden talents and big ideas
The ArtCité Bourg salon, which was part of the Quinzaine de la liberté and opened on May 26th, lasted more than two weeks and attracted many visitors. Admission to the exhibition was kept free, which increased accessibility for all interested art lovers. The cultural exchange between Bourg-en-Bresse and Bad Kreuznach shows that art can stimulate not only beautiful but also important discourse.
We are excited to see what new ideas and creative impulses the artists at the two locations will continue to bring in the future and what the exchange of talents will have to offer in the next joint exhibition. Stay up to date with us!
