Open day: Discover the newly renovated bridge house!

The Brückenhaus in Bad Kreuznach, an impressive architectural monument, will celebrate its grand opening on July 11th and 12th, 2025. On these two days between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m., everyone interested is invited to visit the newly renovated location. After extensive renovation, the bridge house now shines in a new light and proudly shows off its exposed half-timbering and its historical character Antenna KH reported.

Particularly noteworthy is the location of the bridge house on the Old Nahe Bridge, which is one of the oldest bridges in Germany. The bridge itself was built around 1300 and was once part of the city fortifications, equipped with firing chambers for defense. Over the centuries, the bridge house, which was originally used as a powder room, served various purposes and has been a listed building since the 1980s Monument Protection.de explained in detail.

New flair and modern design

On the ground floor of the Brückenhaus, visitors can expect an inviting wine bar run by the Klopfer family, which is very popular with its Mediterranean flair and a wide selection of regional wines. On the upper floor there are two stylish holiday apartments furnished by the “Apart You” design team. These apartments not only boast Italian design, but also offer luxurious amenities such as freestanding bathtubs and walk-in rainfall showers.

The upcoming opening weekend has exciting highlights in store. In addition to guided tours, there is the opportunity to have personal conversations with the hosts. If you still need an incentive, you can take part in a competition where you can win a voucher for an overnight stay in the Brückenhaus.

A look into history

The history of the bridge house dates back to the 17th century and plays an important role in the architectural development of Bad Kreuznach. The bridge on which it stands was once reinforced by medieval bridge towers, which also housed a prison until the end of the 17th century. Over the centuries there have been repeated renovations, which explains the current condition of the building. The German Foundation for Monument Protection supported the emergency protection and the subsequent renovation planning in order to do justice to the valuable history of the bridge house.

Current funding measures for monument protection are not only important locally. At the national level, the special monument protection program aims to preserve the cultural landscape and cover at least 50 percent of the costs for renovation projects, as stated on the website Ministry of Culture is explained.
