FC Kirchweiler turns dream into reality: small playing field ceremoniously opened!

A new chapter is opening in the heart of Kirchweiler: FC Kirchweiler is celebrating its 100th anniversary, and the healthy club life is being enriched by a very special project. The desire for a small playing field and a cross-generational movement space was already expressed at a future conference in 2019. This initiative shows how local communities can come together to turn ideas and visions into reality. People's friend reports that the plans at the time for the project called for costs of up to 300,000 euros, but the result after intensive personal work is impressive: a 30x30 meter multifunctional small playing field arena was created and the whole thing ultimately only cost around 50,000 euros.

The new development is based on a clever upcycling approach - 1000 square meters of the substructure of an artificial turf pitch was saved during dismantling. In 2023, two used indoor soccer courts including a perimeter system, goals and safety nets were also purchased. The club's high level of personal contribution has significantly reduced costs and also shows the creative potential of the committed members. Daniel Weber, the second chairman of FC Kirchweiler, emphasizes that this step also represents a response to the challenges of demographic change and the Corona crisis. Sports field world adds that the project was even recognized as part of the DOSB “Stars of Sports” competition, where FC Kirchweiler achieved third place at the state level (Rhineland-Palatinate).

Commitment and community

But the small playing field is more than just a place for kicking. It symbolizes the club's commitment to the community. During the first future conference in autumn 2019, six working groups were founded to develop ideas for the future of the association. From club breakfasts to the club's external representation to planning community events - FC Kirchweiler is taking the initiative to create more networking among local citizens and the many local clubs.

One of the highlights was the first club breakfast on February 16, 2020, where 23 representatives of local clubs and the local mayor came together to better coordinate their appointments. Even though the second club breakfast was canceled due to the corona pandemic, this effort shows that the community can pull together to keep club life alive. The bpb emphasizes how important sports clubs are for integration and social coexistence in the community.

In summary, it is clear: FC Kirchweiler's committed actions have not only created a piece of space for sporting activities, but also promotes community and integration on site. In doing so, the club is setting an example for future orientation and cohesion - and that is not only a stroke of luck for Kirchweiler, but can also serve as a better template for other clubs. “We are really happy about what we have achieved together,” summarized by Daniel Weber, FC Kirchweiler shows how dreams can come true with clever and collaborative planning.
