Vintage car breakfast in Wahnwegen: Over 80 vehicles celebrated!

The first classic car breakfast in Wahnwegen last Sunday provided a colorful meeting place for lovers of historic vehicles. Over 80 vintage cars, all at least 30 years old, gathered in the small community that made the event possible. Initiated by a WhatsApp group that was founded seven years ago by Andreas Kayser and Stefan Reusemann, the meeting has become a real long-running favorite. The number of members is constantly increasing and there are currently around 120 people in the group.

The original meetings took place at the Konker Rasthof, also known as the Blue Lagoon. The classic car enthusiasts now meet every Sunday at 10 a.m. Up to 100 vehicles are regularly counted, delighting the village community with a colorful backdrop. The local community kindly provided the premises and toilets, while food and drinks were offered for donations. Proceeds from the day will benefit the local kindergarten.

Vehicle variety and special highlights

Numerous well-known brands came together in Wahnwegen, such as VW, Citroën, Ford, Porsche, Renault and Mercedes. The group of participants even extended beyond the borders of Saarland and the Kusel area, including vehicles with French license plates. A Ford A from 1931, which belongs to Klaus Winkler, was particularly in the spotlight. This atmospheric vehicle was in production between 1928 and 1931 and has a market value of up to 25,000 euros in Germany.

And the best part? This is not a competition with awards, but rather the classic car lovers focus on exchanging tips on vehicle repairs and making new acquaintances. The inspiration for the meeting came from a classic car friend from Kaiserslautern, who encouraged the organizers to maintain this tradition and share the joy of classic vehicles with each other.

Success stories from the classic car community

Similar classic car events are not only popular in Wahnwegen. One example is the vintage car meeting in Lehnin Monastery, which was recently organized by the young company “ReBornClassics” from Berlin. This event brought together a variety of historic vehicles and attracted many classic car enthusiasts. The rockabilly band “Hannes & the Vinyl Freaks” provided the musical accompaniment. Such events clearly show that classic cars form a large community that networks beyond regional borders and offers mutual support.

This classic car meeting could become a permanent fixture for Wahnwegen. The organizers are already thinking about an annual event to further promote this passion for historic vehicles and attract even more fans. Such occasions not only provide an opportunity to indulge in nostalgia, but also to celebrate the joy of community and tradition.
