On August 30, 2025, the Eulen Ludwigshafen managed to celebrate a brilliant start to the second division season. They thrilled the 1,705 spectators with an impressive 32:26 win against TuSEM Essen in the Friedrich-Ebert-Halle. The atmosphere in the hall was brilliant as players and fans celebrated the “Humba” ceremony together. Friedrich Schmitt was the hero of the game with seven goals and delivered a great performance that caused a lot of joy among the spectators.

What exactly makes this success so special? The Owls have not only proven their skills on the field, but are also heavily involved in the community. Captain Max Haider recently took part in the “Courageous against Racism” action day at the Heinrich Pesch House (HPH). The aim here was to sensitize people to the issue of discrimination and to work together against inhumane behavior. This annual event attracts numerous students from different types of schools - this year the comprehensive school, secondary school, vocational school and high school were represented.

Commitment off the field

At the day of action, organized by Max Berger, the speaker for political youth education, seven workshops took place that dealt with discrimination and racism. Max Haider took an active part in the final round and shared his experiences as a handball professional with the young participants, who were between 16 and 22 years old. He emphasized the importance of the event and underlined how crucial educational work is in sport and that communication can help to avoid discriminatory situations. He is firmly convinced that such initiatives make a decisive contribution to tolerance and respectful coexistence.

The combination of sporting success and social responsibility shows that the Eulen Ludwigshafen have a good knack for not only shining on the field, but also taking a stand against injustice in everyday life. The fans can not only look forward to more exciting games, but also to more engagement in their community.
