Ludwigshafen is teeming: New hidden object book delights young and old!
The city of Ludwigshafen recently presented a very special highlight for young and old: On September 26, 2025, the hidden object book with the title “Wimmelts in Ludwigshafen” was published. The book, which costs €15.99 and comprises a total of 16 pages, lovingly shows well-known places in the city and invites you to go on fun journeys of discovery. Velle Verlag brought this creative work to life in collaboration with Ludwigshafener Kongress- und Marketing-Gesellschaft mbH (LUKOM).
The new hidden object book brings a lot of joy - both through the vividly illustrated scenes and the memorable characters. The scenes include exciting treasure hunts on the Parkinsel and the amusing image of a lawnmower in Ebertpark. The recurring characters include an aniliner on a red BASF factory bicycle and children who are busy gardening in the hack museum garden. Local festivals such as the Rhine Embankment Festival, the Palatinate Festival and the Film Festival are also addressed thematically. Illustrations come from Brigitte Kuka, an experienced hidden object book illustrator who has created expressive and emotional images to address the diversity of Ludwigshafen.
A hands-on project for the little ones
Another exciting aspect of the hidden object book is the large participation of the local population. Citizens were able to contribute their ideas via the Instagram account @in.ludwigshafen.wimmelts and thus help shape the book project. The book aims to promote children's language skills and creativity and is even printed in a climate-neutral way, which benefits the environment.
BASF even goes one step further: it has launched a competition for daycare centers and primary schools in which children can come up with creative ideas to represent BASF. From the age of 5, children are invited to print out and fill out a coloring template. The reward is ten hidden object book packages for daycare centers and schools, which are ideal for reading corners or classroom libraries. Submissions are possible until September 19, 2025; those interested can find further information in the terms and conditions.
With “Wimmelts in Ludwigshafen”, the city has launched a loving and educational project that not only strengthens the children, but also the entire community. A vibrant example of what a city can bring together. Who wouldn't want to dive into the colorful pages?
