The athletes are in great early form and the clubs involved are looking forward to lively participation from the entire region.
Competition information and age groups
The framework of the championships is not only the good atmosphere among the athletes, but also a well-thought-out competition program. The athletics competitions offer numerous disciplines and age groups, which offer every talent an opportunity to take part. An overview of the most important disciplines and age groups can be found, for example, in the district championships for the Saarbrücken district, which will take place on May 18, 2025 in the Waldstadion Homburg. Some of the competitions are listed here:
- Kinder M10 und W10: 50 m, 800 m, Weitsprung, Schlagball
- Jugend M12 und W12: 75 m, 800 m, 60 m Hürden, Hochsprung, Weitsprung

Here the age group athletes play a crucial role as numerous competitions are held to determine the best sprinters and athletes in the region. The U20 class in particular has become an important stepping stone in recent years for many talents who may then want to move up to the bigger pain points of athletics at national level.
History of the German youth championships
The history of the German Youth Athletics Championships goes back to 1937, when the first competitions were held. The U18 competitions, which were introduced in 1988, have now become an integral part of athletics in Germany, along with the U20 championships. It is not just a competition, but also an event where athletes can meet and exchange experiences.
As the event grows in importance at the regional level, we can look forward to the upcoming competitions that will enrich our sporting environment. Best wishes to all athletes – may the fastest win!
