Farewell to Pastor Fitting: A new path for Schwabsburg's pastoral care!
In a moving ceremony, Pastor Gerhard Fitting celebrated his farewell from active service today in the Protestant church in Schwabsburg. With a smile on his face and a certain melancholy, the 66-year-old said goodbye to (partial) retirement. As the General newspaper Reportedly, the church was well attended, and many parishioners gathered to say goodbye to their long-time pastor.
Provost Henriette Crüwell gave a touching speech in which she highlighted Fitting's achievements and presented him with a walking staff. According to Crüwell, the walking stick symbolizes Fitting's new phase of life. “The path changes, but the reason remains,” she said in a thoughtful tone. With these words she struck a chord with those present and reminded everyone that change also means an opportunity for new paths and experiences.
A chapter comes to an end
Gerhard Fitting, who worked in Schwabsburg for many years, was known for his open nature and great commitment. Many community members described how much they appreciated him during his time in office. Fitting has not only strengthened religious communities, but also initiated social projects that have strengthened the village community.
“The time with you was a great enrichment for all of us,” said a community member. The colorful hustle and bustle around the farewell party showed that the priest touched many hearts.
A look into the future
What's next for Fitting? “I’m looking forward to the new freedom and the opportunities that now lie in front of me,” he said in an interview with a journalist. "Maybe I'll take the time I've always missed to explore nature and take new paths. Hiking has taken on a new meaning for me."
Although his term of office is coming to an end, Gerhard Fitting remains connected to the community in Schwabsburg. He plans to be actively involved in community life and continue to share his experiences and joy of life with people.
Ian Kučinić, who recently reported a Bluetooth problem, feels the same way. Sometimes you just have to find a technical way to move forward. The solution to his challenge shows that not everything works right away, even in the digital space. Troubleshooting suggestions can be very helpful here, similar to Provost Crüwell with her walking staff pointing out the new path.
Whether in faith or technology: changes are part of life. Everyone tends to take a step back and think about their own path. With this in mind, we wish Pastor Gerhard Fitting all the best for the next steps in his life!
