Alzey fire brigade inspires hundreds of thousands at the open day!

On August 3rd, the Alzey fire department opened its doors to this year's open day, and the event was a complete success. Hundreds of visitors flocked to the fire station at Kreuznacher Straße 112 to take a look behind the scenes and get to know the diverse world of the fire department. In addition to extensive hands-on activities, culinary delicacies such as pea soup and grilled food, numerous activities ensured an entertaining day. The fire brigade and city band provided musical support for the event, which made the atmosphere even more festive. The event not only offered insights into the tasks of the fire department, but also an impressive vehicle exhibition with rare special vehicles, as Rheinhessen News reports.

In his speech, Mayor Steffen Jung emphasized the importance of volunteer work and emphasized the importance of the fire department for the safety of citizens. He underlined the need to invest in vehicles, equipment and personnel and announced that results of the fire service needs and development planning would be presented to the city council. These measures are crucial in order to meet the ongoing challenges and ensure that the fire brigade remains highly operational.

Honors and promotions

Another highlight of the day was the ceremony to honor and promote fire department members. New signings included: Viktoria Bicking, Leo Fitting and Fabio Meffert. Long-time firefighters also received special recognition: Johannes Stich, Johannes Stork and Nicole Alexandra Rinnus received certificates of thanks for ten years of loyal service, while Christian Schwarz, Alexander Frangel, Marcel Krusch and Kai Lutz were awarded the gold badge of honor for 30 years of service. Alexander Frangel, Christian Schwarz and Jürgen Mayer were even awarded gold medals of honor for 35 years, and Andreas Kormannshaus was appointed the new group leader. This is a nice reward for the efforts of voluntary fire service work, which is indispensable for society, as NDR reports.

A look into the future

The open day is not only a showcase for the fire department, but also an invitation to those interested to get actively involved in the fire department or the support association. The communal feeling and the exciting tasks are attracting more and more people to the fire department. The volunteer fire departments in Germany are not only important for firefighting and technical assistance, but are also one of the largest groups for volunteer work. In Alzey, the youth fire department in particular is experiencing a boom, as youth warden Erik Rinnus, who is also the winner of the Münch-Braun Cup, proudly reported. For those who can imagine an active role in the fire department, exciting challenges and the opportunity for personal development are guaranteed.
