Steffen Wolf celebrates 25 years of commitment to serving citizens!
September 14, 2025 was a very special day for Steffen Wolf: He celebrated a proud 25 years in public service. During a solemn ceremony, at which Almut Schultheiss-Lehn, the second district councilor, was also present, she congratulated on behalf of District Administrator Dorothea Schäfer. Schultheiss-Lehn highlighted Wolf's loyalty and commitment and presented him with a certificate of thanks that recognized his many years of cooperation.
The congratulations came not only from Schultheiss-Lehn, but also from Sascha Jakobi, the chairman of the staff council, as well as his representative Mareike Schickle and the department head Silke Mitscherling. Wolf looks back gratefully on a career that began in August 2001 with a year of community service with the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund. He completed his studies in administrative management in 2004 and joined the district administration as a district inspector in 2005.
An impressive career
Wolf quickly took on responsibility and was appointed district superintendent in 2008, where he headed the school administration department. His career rose steeply: He was also deputy department head in the “Schools/Facilities Management” department and in 2016 took over the management of the “Safety and Order/Municipal Supervision” department, where he was appointed district administrative councilor. Steffen Wolf has been the first district councilor for the Mainz-Bingen district since February 2018 and is responsible for Division II.
Over the years, he has taken on numerous key positions, including chairing the shareholders' meeting of the Kreiswohnungsbaugesellschaft (KWBG) since 2021 and being appointed chairman of the supervisory board of Kommunalverkehr Rhein-Nahe GmbH (KRN) in 2023. Wolf was also recently re-elected as first district councilor in June 2025 for the term of office from February 2026 with a large majority.
Appreciation of further anniversaries
Steffen Wolf is not the only one celebrating his 25th anniversary. Tanja Schäfer and Patrick Kastell have also reached this milestone. While Schäfer started as a clerk at the district adult education center in 2000 and moved to the “facilities management” department in 2017, Kastell started his career with training as a carpenter before entering the public service in 2000 and becoming a school caretaker.
The appreciation for long-standing employees in the district administration is made clear by the celebrations, which focus on the merits and commitment of the employees. This tradition not only promotes team spirit, but also establishes a strong network within the administration.
