Young musicians from Frankfurt inspire at the Telemann competition!

An exciting weekend is coming up! On Saturday four talented young musicians from Frankfurt will beMusic country Hesseenrich. The Lotus Ensemble, consisting of Andreas Stöger and Sebastian Schmidt on the recorder, Moeko Aiba on the cello and Haeun Cho on the harpsichord, will present their skills in a special performance. The musicians are students at the Institute for Historical Interpretation Practice at the HfMDK Frankfurt and recently attended 13th International Telemann Competition won several prizes in Magdeburg: including the audience prize, the Bärenreiter Urtext Prize and the special prize for the Frankfurt concert series “Die Kleine Kammermusik”.

As part of this performance, the musicians will not only show off their talent, but also take part in a conversation about their careers and the music of Georg Philipp Telemann. It will be broadcast live on the radio in advance, providing a wonderful opportunity for music lovers to find out more about the ensemble's background.

Stunning awards

The successes of the Lotus Ensemble cannot be overlooked. The competition took place in two categories: historical string instruments and chamber music ensembles. In addition to the Lotus Ensemble, there were many notable participants. First prize in the historical string instruments category went to Thomas Fields from the USA, while the chamber music ensemble category was won by Ensemble Zulèia from Hungary, Italy and China. The competition, which has taken place every two years since 2001, has established itself as one of the most important platforms for aspiring musicians. The high quality and diversity of the participants was praised by jury chairman Prof. Dr. Barthold Kuijken deserves special mention. So it's no wonder that the Lotus Ensemble is supervised in such illustrious circles.

Upcoming highlights in the music region of Hesse

The Lotus Ensemble will give a concert on October 19th in the Evangelical Academy on the Römerberg. Anyone interested should save this date!
